Often misunderstood, Froebel's Gift 2 is the key to understanding the other materials. Gift 2 was intended to demonstrate the interconnectedness of form and materials. As Gift 1 is the yarn ball, Gift 2 includes a wood sphere, and also a wood cylinder and cube. All of these wood solids have means of suspending them from a hanging apparatus (either metal loops or drilled holes for a lanyard).

When spun about their various axes, a hidden pattern is displayed. When the cylinder is spun on its curved side, a sphere appears in the center.
